The LT-5 Beetle is an original design from the Junk Tank Rock series. JTR is an obscure series of garage resin kits that were released in 2009-09. This is my fifth JTR kit and my second build of the LT-5 version.
Comprising only around 25 parts, the LT-5 was a simple to build. The model is called out as 1/35 scale but like the prior LT-5 Kncka, I turned it into 1/48 scale to better fit a figure. I acquired this kit second hand and it was missing a couple of pieces. I scratch built the missing rear pod and added a few missing details. The kit is molded solid so I took a dremel and cored out an area to insert the commander figure. The hatch is from a 1/48 Hobby Boss T-34 as are a few other detail parts scattered around the build.
The model was painted with Tamiya acrylics and weathered with oils, enamels and pigments. I kept the weathering lighter this time since it was operating in an urban environment.
The base is a block of MDF with .06" thick styrene sides. The paver stones are made from pink foam and the debris is a combination of carved foam bricks, sand, gravel and a few 1/48 accessories I've had for ages. I painted everything with acrylics and weathered with the usual oils, enamels and pigments.
