This is my first time building one of the newer Tamiya KV kits. I made some modifications to represent a specific BeutePanzer Panzerkampfwagen KW II – 754 (r).
This model represents a KV-2 Model 1941 which includes several of the upgrades instituted in August 1941 including applique armor on the hull sides, box fuel tanks, and shot deflector for the hull crew hatch and additional armor to protect the turret ring. This particular vehicle numbered B-4673, was captured by the Germans and put into use by the 269th Super-Heavy Tank Platoon, 269th Infantry Division. It did not see much action and eventually the tank was blown up after it became stuck in a swamp and broke down.
The Tamiya kit was a very straightforward kit to assemble, but then again, a KV-2 is not a complex vehicle, and any kit should offer a simple build. Compared to the Trumpeter KV-2 kit, the Tamiya has much finer surface detail on the turret and very nice welds throughout. It is missing the fine bolt features on the fenders and the road wheels are very loose on their axles which is frustrating. The kit was detailed with Passion Models photoetch sets, Eureka XXL tow cables, Aber barrel, and Def Models 3D printed screens.

Black primer. Still need to add a few more small impact marks.
White wash is applied. First a layer of hair spray chipping followed by washable white.
